First Choice Power Part of Houston Consumer Choice Initiative

Consumers Will See $250, $500 in Savings

(HOUSTON) – First Choice Power has been chosen to participate in the City of Houston’s Consumer Choice Initiative, a program announced today to encourage consumers to save on electricity costs by comparing offers of various providers.

“We applaud Mayor White for this opportunity to educate Houston residents that they do have a choice when it comes to electric service,” said Jeff Weiser, vice president of marketing and sales for First Choice Power. “First Choice Power is proud to be selected as one of the qualified providers.”

The City of Houston required all selected electricity providers to meet a standard of financial strength and to keep their offers open to Houstonians until April 30, 2006.

First Choice Power fixed-rate plans put customers in control by giving them certainty and protection from fuel-related increases and seasonal rate changes, Weiser added. Consumers can sign up for a 12-month or 24-month fixed-price plan. These programs can provide savings of more than $250 annually compared to current Houston price-to-beat rates.

Along with these plans, new customers also are eligible to enroll in First Choice Power’s Simply Better Rewards program to earn points redeemable for name-brand merchandise.

Consumers can learn more about First Choice Power’s offers by visiting FirstChoicePower.com or calling (866) 469-2464. Houston residents should call (800) 639-0232 and mention Promotional Code COH06, and can visit FirstChoicePower.com/Houston.

Based in Fort Worth, Texas, and with offices across the state, First Choice Power is Texas’ fourth-largest retail electric provider. First Choice Power is one of four subsidiaries of PNM Resources, an investor-owned energy holding company with $5 billion in total assets. For more information, visit FirstChoicePower.com.
