First Choice Power Offers New Plan That Takes the Ups and Downs Out of the TXU Roller Coaster

(FORT WORTH, Texas) — Feb. 28, 2006 — TXU customers weary of high prices and uncertain electric rates have a new choice beginning today: First Choice Power’s new Keep It Simple plan offers immediate savings and price certainty for customers who switch.

"TXU’s way is to leave its customers riding the ups and downs of the market, while First Choice Power’s plan gives customers what they really want: stability and affordability."
The plan offers electricity at 12.9 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) plus a low monthly fee of $4.95 for two years -- which is the lowest fixed price offered in the TXU service territory today. The TXU territory includes communities in and around the Metroplex, Waco and Odessa.
An average residential customer, using 1,000 kWh per month, could save as much as $400 over the two-year term by switching from TXU’s current price to beat to First Choice Power’s Keep It Simple plan.
The Keep It Simple price is also near the low end of the range of prices in the recently announced TXU Market Tracker+ plan, in which rates can change monthly and rise as high as 16.1 cents per kWh. "Our offer gives customers the same, affordable price for two years, while prices in the TXU plan could change 24 times during that same period," Shorter said.
In addition to a guaranteed low price, First Choice Power also offers Texas-based service. In late 2005, the company announced it was bringing all of its call center operations back to Texas through an agreement with Dallas-based Alliance Data.
