FORT WORTH, Texas — July 7, 2005 — First Choice Power, a retail electric provider in the deregulated Texas market, has named a new management team that will lead the company's efforts to grow its customer base in Texas.
Jeff Shorter has been named president of First Choice Power, headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. He has also been named senior vice president for PNM Resources (NYSE: PNM), a utility holding company based in Albuquerque, N.M., that recently acquired First Choice Power. In addition, Charles Kitowsky has been named vice president of Portfolio Trading and Energy Supply, and Jeff Weiser has been named vice president of Marketing and Sales.Shorter oversees sales, marketing, portfolio trading and customer operations for First Choice Power. He has more than 16 years of experience in strategic planning, pricing and wholesale power marketing. Shorter has extensive knowledge of the deregulated market in Texas. Most recently, Shorter was a founder and managing partner of Wolfrox Partners in Dallas, a private investment and operating holding company with interests that included energy consulting. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president of North America Commercial Operations and vice president of Trading for TXU in Dallas. Shorter graduated with his master's and bachelor's degrees in business administration from Texas Tech University.
Kitowski focuses on supply management, pricing and forecasting, trading, structuring and analytics. He comes to First Choice Power from TXU Energy, where he spent more than four years as vice president of Risk Management. Kitowski holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University, a master’s degree in material science and engineering from the University of Texas, and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University.
Weiser is responsible for residential, small business and large commercial marketing and sales efforts. His organization supports branding, customer analytics, retention, and channel and contract management. Weiser has more than 20 years of experience in general management, sales and marketing, and corporate development. He most recently was president of GrowthPoint Group, a strategic and marketing consulting company in the ERCOT market. He previously led TXU Corporation’s efforts in sales and business-process initiatives, where he spent more than 11 years in senior management positions. Weiser holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and Spanish, as well as a master’s degree in finance and marketing from Northwestern University.
John Menichini remains in his position of vice president, Customer Operations, where he has served since May 2004. His primary responsibilities include overseeing the company’s customer service functions. Menichini previously was vice president of Customer Services for PPL Electric Utilities. He has more than 35 years of industry and customer service experience.
First Choice Power is the retail affiliate of Texas-New Mexico Power Company, which provides electric transmission and distribution service to more than 200,000 customers in Texas and complete electric service to 49,000 customers in New Mexico.
