First Choice Power Fund Accepting Partnership Grant
Applications from Texas Nonprofits
$50,000 available in grants

(FORT WORTH, TEXAS) – The First Choice Power Fund is now accepting applications for First Choice Power Partnership Grants from nonprofits that improve the quality of life in Texas by focusing on education, environmental awareness and economic vitality. The First Choice Power Fund will award $50,000 this year; the deadline is June 5.

“Nonprofits have programs that bring valuable resources to those in Texas who need them most," said Diane Harrison Ogawa, PNM Resources Foundation executive director. "The First Choice Power Fund is proud to offer these grants to help build a stronger and brighter future for our state.”Any 501(c) 3 nonprofit that provide direct services to the communities served by First Choice Power is eligible to apply.

Nonprofits are encouraged to visit www.FirstChoicePower.com/partner to learn more about who can apply; to understand what guides the funding; to see what’s funded; and to apply for First Choice Power Partnership Grants. Applications must be submitted online by 5 p.m. on June 5. Only one application per nonprofit is accepted each year.

The minimum grant considered by the First Choice Power Fund is $5,000.

Top Ten Tips To Write a Successful Grant Application

  1. Use the current application materials.
  2. Follow instructions.
  3. Prepare and attach a separate budget file.
  4. Convince your reviewer that your idea will make a difference.
  5. Avoid acronyms or terms that may not be understood by the general public.
  6. Know the deadline; don’t wait till the last minute.
  7. Use spell and grammar check.
  8. Stay within the funding requirements.
  9. More is not always better! State the idea, getting to the point quickly.
  10. If at first you don’t succeed, ask for feedback, and try again!
