EVERYONE KNOWS A TEACHER;
ENCOURAGE YOUR FAVORITE TO APPLY
(FORT WORTH, Texas) — January 12, 2006 — Deadlines are fast approaching for two teacher grants programs offered by the First Choice Power Fund. The First Choice Power Fund will award $50,000 to teachers this spring through First Choice Power Classroom Innovation Grants and First Choice Power Earth Study Grants.
First Choice Power Earth Study Grant applications are due Feb. 5. The First Choice Power Fund will distribute these $1,000 grants to teachers across the state to implement projects that encourage environmental awareness during the 2006-07 school year.
The First Choice Fund also is accepting First Choice Power Classroom Innovation Grant applications, which are due March 5. The First Choice Power Fund will award grants to teachers across the state who have exciting and creative ideas for their classrooms. Teachers may apply for grants ranging from $500 to $3,000.
Full-time K-12 teachers and pre-K teachers with an early childhood license from schools served by First Choice Power are eligible to apply. Any teacher who is a customer of First Choice Power and meets the full-time criteria also is eligible.
“We encourage eligible teachers to apply for First Choice Power Earth Study and Classroom Innovation Grants so they can obtain the necessary resources to turn their most creative teaching ideas into classroom magic,” said Diane Harrison Ogawa, executive director of the PNM Resources Foundation.
Applications must be submitted online by the deadline to be considered for grants.
