Lake Jackson Historical AssociationLake Jackson Historical Association will use its grant to weatherize the historic 1943 Office Museum. Materials to be purchased include a water heater blanket, caulk to be applied throughout the building to seal air leaks, door sweeps and insulation for all four exterior doors. The Office Museum has cracks in the cement flooring and along the doors and windows. The First Choice Power Reduce Your Use Grant will be used to weatherize the building. The grant also will allow the association to purchase a new Energy Star qualified refrigerator to replace the eleven-year-old model that is currently used at the Museum. In addition, the funds will enable the association to utilize an e-mail fax service that will cut paper and energy costs. The email fax service will allow for the disposal of an out-dated fax machine that is currently being used. Instead, faxes will be sent and received via email, thereby reducing the constant energy used by fax equipment that is left running 24 hours a day.  |
