Prepaid electricity works a lot like a prepaid phone or debit card. You put money into your account, and as you use electricity each day, the amount you use is deducted from your account balance. There is no difference in the way you use electricity, just how and when you pay for it.
|
It all starts with the smart meter on your home that measures your electricity usage. Your smart meter sends electricity usage reports to your electricity company, and in turn you receive email or text message alerts letting you know how much money is left in your account.
All you need to get started is a Smart Meter, and either a text-enabled mobile phone or an active email account where you can receive usage alerts.
