Bowling for Dinners
Are you the kind of person who prefers to see the bowl as half full or half empty? Each year, the North Texas Food Bank's Empty Bowls luncheon helps us keep a positive attitude and reminds us we can make a difference for hungry people in our community. This year's event drew a crowd of more than 2,000 guests who enjoyed a delicious lunch while raising $153,324 (that's 459,807 meals!) for the North Texas Food Bank.
The popular event brought together amazing local restaurants including Blue Mesa Grill, Bolsa, Bread Winners and more, not to mention the team of talented potters and wood turners who crafted the commemorative bowls for the event. At the end of the event, each guest was able to take a bowl home as a reminder of the people with empty bowls in our community.
Guests at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center enjoyed classical music by Young Strings as they filled up on soups, breads and desserts from popular North Texas hot spots. This year, First Choice Power's own Catherine Carlton attended. Her favorite soups were Bread Winners' roasted garlic tomato basil, Bolsa's green garlic and a creamy spring onion soup with smoked apples and leeks. Yum!
