Ladies Who Launch

The 2011 Denton County Women in Business Conference and Expo was a big success. Put on by the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce, this year’s event gave business leaders from the Lewisville area a chance to gather to discuss trends in sales and communications techniques.

First Choice Power was the Break Host Sponsor again this year, and Shanta Cooper from our Lewisville office attended the seminars. You might remember that last year, Shanta actually went onstage and had her face “read” during Ann Marks seminar on what your face says about you. See story here.

This year, Shanta really enjoyed the presentation from Regent Ducas and Bob Kaplitz, who spoke about using video customer testimonials/references to promote businesses. Shanta also enjoyed hearing a talk by Rhonda Shasteen, a former CEO of MaryKay. While Shasteen doesn’t have a formal college education, she started out selling products and got her “education” by working her way up the corporate ladder.

“The conference was a great opportunity to hear from great speakers and meet other businesswomen in the community,” Shanta said. “Because our field is predominantly male, it was nice to participate in an event that was focused on women.”
