Taking Care of Business

The Hilton Garden Inn was abuzz with business leaders from the Lewisville area who gathered to discuss trends in sales and communications techniques at the 2010 Denton County Women in Business Conference and Expo, put on by the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce. As part of our yearlong sponsorship with the Chamber, First Choice Power was the Break Host Sponsor of the event and several First Choice Power employees attended.

Our own Shanta Cooper actually volunteered to go on-stage and have her face “read” during Ann Marks seminar. Using her technique, Ms. Marks looked at the shape of Shanta’s eyes to determine that she analyzes situations before she acts and works hard to present herself well to others. Wow – who knew you could get that much from someone’s eyes?

We all really enjoyed the keynote speech from Ginger Hardage, senior vice president of culture and communications fr Southwest Airlines. Our favorite takeaways were:

• Happy employees = happy customers
• Always look for ways to serve your customer
• Create customer evangelist through customer stories
• Treat customers like family
• Be active in the community
