Texas City Sure Sounds Pretty
Many people don’t realize that blues legend Charles Brown was originally from Texas City. The singer and pianist influenced countless performers who followed him and inspired his hometown to create Music Fest by the Bay in his honor. While this was only the fifth year of the festival, it already feels like a Texas City tradition.
As a Gold Sponsor of this year’s event, First Choice Power was there for all the music, including performances by Chosen and the Kevin Herrin Band, Marcia Ball, Leroy Thomas and the Zydeko Road Runners and Hamilton Loomis. We also had a booth with give-away items, and we sponsored a tamale eating contest to raise money for our partner food banks as part of our Food First™ program. First Choice Power employee Laura Flores told us that the hardest part of the event was deciding whether to watch the tamale eating contest or the Randy Rogers band—but wait, Laura, which did you choose?!
Lots of First Choice Power employees and their families were on hand, including Gabe Sims, Ralph Holm, Stephanie Richardson, Beto Marroquin, Shawn Garcia and Jay Campbell. Special thanks to Jay for handling all the set up!
