For the Record, It Was Too Hot For Flannel Shirts
Well into its 26th year, the Texas State Forest Festival was five days of fun deep in the woods of Texas, and we were happy to be a Gold Sponsor. The festival kicked off on Wednesday with a great carnival, Boy Scout activities, a mock old town called “Loblolly, TX,” live entertainment and a petting zoo.
We loved the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, featuring World Champion lumberjacks, log rolling, log splitting, log rolling dogs, chopping, sawing, axe throwing, dragster chainsaws, tree climbing and more. It makes you tired just watching it. We only wished we could judge the Southern Hush Puppy Championship on Saturday, where chefs from around the country celebrated the deep-fried tradition of cornmeal dough-balls. Instead, we enjoyed surveying the scene from the First Choice Power booth, where we were giving out koozies, howdys and even great green electricity deals to our friends and neighbors. See you next year, lumberjacks!
