Shrimply Lovely
If you were anywhere near Texas City, we hope you didn’t miss this year’s Shrimp Boil and Dance, put on by the Texas City Chamber of Commerce. We were proud to be a sponsor of the event again this year.
Gabe Sims, First Choice Power sales manager for Texas City, was supposed to compete in the ever-famous peel-and-eat-shrimp-eating content, but he ate too much dinner ahead of time and decided to give his spot to a more enthusiastic competitor. Mike Huset was the winner for the third year running, eating 2 pounds of shrimp in 8 minutes. He took home a trophy and a $100 prize.
While he might have missed the contest, Gabe did us proud by handing out shrimp dinners for more than two hours. “It’s always a real fun event,” Gabe told us. “The shrimp were delicious, as always, and it was a good chance to see friends and neighbors while raising money for the Chamber of Commerce.” Music from the Pee Wee Bowen Band gave everyone a reason to move around the dance floor after eating all that shrimp.
