Super Heroes Unite!
Here in Texas, more than 20 percent of children are uninsured, limited their access to doctors and basic healthcare like immunizations and well-checks. Serving children in Denton, Dallas and Tarrant counties, Pedi-Place is a nonprofit that provides preventative healthcare and helps reduce emergency room visits. During 2010, PediPlace provided more than 6,000 children with well-checks, including more than 10,000 immunizations.
PediPlace Imagine 2011: Health Care Heroes Gala raised a huge percentage of the organization’s funding for the year. More than 300 guests attended the event at the Celebrations Grand Ballroom, and First Choice Power was a Silver Sponsor. The event honored Dr. John Baker of Digestive Health Associates as well as the administration, faculty, students and families of the Lewisville Independent School District for their dedication to the health and vitality of children. The night began with cocktails and a silent auction of fine art, unique gifts and gorgeous jewelry. Jasmin Holmstrup, development officer at PediPlace, told us that one of the hottest auction items was a Sunburst guitar signed by all the members of the Eagles. People also were excited about the Coach Raffle, which included a Coach purse, wallet and umbrella; Vera Bradley sunglasses; Coco Chanel perfume and $100 cash. Dr. Stewart Coffman was the lucky winner. The auction excitement was followed by dinner by executive chef Morris Salerno of The Grotto Restaurant.
