Phantom of the Gala
We love a good rock opera, so we were thrilled that this year the Children’s Advocacy Center’s 3rd Annual Champions for Children Gala had a Phantom of the Gala theme. First Choice Power was a sponsor of the event, one of the year’s biggest fundraisers for the center. The Children’s Advocacy Center is a United Way partner agency that provides justice and healing for abused children.
More than 650 guests attended, many wearing 1800s costumes and masks and raised over $120,000. Stacie Wainscott, the development coordinator told us "the proceeds from the event will pay off the agency’s mortgage note on our building, which we moved into July 2009, and we will be able to hire an additional needed staff member this year. Both of which will enable us to serve more children and families."
Our First Choice Power Lewisville office representative Shanta Cooper was there, and while she didn’t wear a costume, she did look quite lovely. The highlight of her evening was meeting Dallas Cowboy’s coach Jason Garrett, who was signing footballs and shaking hands with guests.
