Encouraging Camp for Everyone
As kids, we loved camp, so we were happy to sponsor two tables at Camp Summit’s 9th Annual Boots and Bandanas benefit dinner and auction at Eddie Dean’s Ranch in downtown Dallas. This year’s Boots and Bandanas event was a huge success, raising more than $120,000 for Camp Summit. “We really enjoyed the ball,” said First Choice Power employee Lance McGee, whose sisters-in-law attends the camp. “[My wife] Katie and I especially appreciate the camp counselors who make the week so fun for our sisters.”
As a United Way partner agency, Camp Summit is a nonprofit that is very close to our hearts here at First Choice Power. Our vice president of operations Josh Coleman has donated to the United Way for close to 22 years, and he currently serves on the Camp Summit board of directors. “We received numerous compliments on how great the event was, and couldn’t have done it without the help of the committee,” said Bonnie Webb, Camp Summit’s development/marketing coordinator. “We greatly appreciate your willingness to go above and beyond to make this event a success.”
Camp Summit provides barrier-free outdoor experiences that promote growth and independence for children and adults with disabilities. Campers range in age from 6 to adulthood (last summer, the oldest camper was over 80 years old) and may be developmentally delayed, physically challenged, dual sensory impaired or have multiple disabilities. Most importantly, the camp is a lot of fun for both the campers and staff!

First Choice Power’s support of Camp Summit includes a 2010 Reduce Your Use Grant that was used to purchase energy-efficient windows for the kitchen and dining hall and volunteers at the Camp Summit annual golf tournament.
