A Smokin’ Hot Event
We love sponsoring the National Championship Barbeque Cookoff, and this year was no exception. This premier competitive cook-off is only for cooks who have won or placed in recognized barbeque cookoffs during the past year. This year, around 200 teams competed for more than $22,000 in prize money.
And thanks to Todd Clift, First Choice Power’s business development manager for Bosque and the surrounding counties, it was all for a great cause. Todd talked the committee into sending the proceeds from the silent auction to support the local food pantries. The event raised $9,000 for the three Bosque area food banks in Valley Mills, Clifton and Meridian, and First Choice Power donated $500 to each of the food pantries on top of that as part of our Food First™ program to end hunger. In addition to sampling all the yummy meats and eats, we were also on site handing out First Choice Power information and goodies at our Food First booth.
