We’ll Grant You That
Hate your air conditioner? Do your windows leak? Don’t just sit there—take action! If you work at a non-profit or community organization, First Choice Power’s Reduce Your Use Grants™ could help you make changes to save energy and money.
In 2011, First Choice Power awarded more than $61,000 in Reduce Your Use Grants™ to nonprofits, schools and medical centers to fund energy-efficient programs and upgrades. Recipients included food banks, museums and charitable organizations who will use their grants to fund projects such as installing new air conditioners and fans, adding energy-efficient doors and door frames and installing EnergyStar® appliances. In total, almost 1.2 million people will be affected by the changes and upgrades made with the help of the 2011 grants. All 31 recipients are expected to save a total of approximately $70,000 on energy bills over the next four years.*
"With the generosity of First Choice Power, we can install new HVAC units and create a better insulation for the attic area and the building as a whole," James C. Hoffman, president of the Lake Whitney Arts Association, said. “This will allow us to save money on energy that we can use to serve the arts community.”
“This grant program allows First Choice Power to help build the communities we’re apart of in a more energy efficient way,” Catherine Carlton, community relations manager for First Choice Power, said. “By helping nonprofits and schools afford environmentally friendly upgrades, we are able to help reduce their energy usage and at the same time lower their bill.”
