Dawn Day 1: The team prepares to leave Frisco for Fort Worth.

Do you live in Fort Worth and plan an entire day around the long drive to Ikea? Or do you live in Frisco and crave Joe T. Garcia’s, but wonder if the long drive is worth it. (It is, always is.)

Well, imagine cycling that distance! 160 miles!

That’s what 14 members of our First Choice Power Cycling Team did this weekend. They cycled in the DFW MS 150 from Frisco to Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday and then from Texas Motor Speedway to downtown Fort Worth on Sunday.

My calves and hamstrings hurt just thinking about it. I was inspired and in awe of their teamwork and dedication to the ride. I also am thankful for the employees and families who met the team along the way and awarded them with snacks and cheers. And, of course, also for all their work to the important cause — multiple sclerosis – as I followed their updates on Twitter and Facebook

Our team captains, Michael and Javier, were pros as they had completed their first  MS 150 just a few weeks ago – cycling from Houston to Austin. Again, this would be planning a weekend road trip for me, not a long exercise outing!

“Javier and I cycled 167 miles from Houston to Austin three weeks ago, and we did 164 miles on Saturday and Sunday,” Michael said. “I still wonder why they call it the MS150 when the mileage consistently seems higher? :)

Our team reached its fund-raising goal, but you can still show your support and help the MS cause: donate.

The finish line in sight: 160 miles done!

Two MS 150s down, what’s next? Do you know of any other bike races out there that our team might be interested in participating in?

That is too cool. I’m very impressed. That’s a lot longer than anything I’ve ever done on a bike! (At least one that didn’t have a motor…)
