What makes your home your home? Of course, your family, comes to mind first. But after that, I’d guess it’s a cozy place to sleep, a warm blanket on your bed, comfortable furniture, your favorite shampoo, appliances to cook, dishes to eat on, a fluffy towel and maybe some memories hung on the wall.
Since 1985, Interfaith Housing Coalition has been providing temporary housing to families who have lost their homes or apartments. The apartments provided by Interfaith Housing Coalition come ready to be made a home. When a family enters the program, they walk in to an apartment that is fully furnished, decorated and stocked with toiletries and linens — even the kitchen table is set for the next meal.
A mother and her 4-year-old son will soon move into an apartment owned by Interfaith Housing Coalition with decorations thanks to First Choice Power employees.
With Michael, one our VPs, on the Interfaith Housing Coalition board of directors, and a crew of volunteers ready to step in and help where needed, First Choice Power and Interfaith Housing Coalition have formed a community partnership.
You can see how this apartment becomes a home with the extra touches such as some Mickey Mouse artwork, homey knicknacks and a toy bin for the little boy.
What makes your home home?
