First Choice Power Donates $10,000 to Christian Community Action for Bill Payment Assistance
LEWISVILLE, TEXAS – First Choice Power, a Texas retail electric provider with an office in Lewisville, announced today that $10,000 from its customer-supported Care to Share Fund will be donated to Lewisville’s Christian Community Action (CCA) program to assist Texans in paying their electric bills. The funds will be distributed to CCA clients based on need.
“Serving our customers and their communities is fundamental to our values at First Choice Power,” said Lake Scalise, manager of First Choice Power’s Lewisville Local Office. “I am so proud that these funds will allow such a wonderful local organization to provide assistance for their clients in need.”
First Choice Power’s bill payment assistance program is a corporate and customer-funded bill payment assistance program. Customers can contribute each month by checking a box on their bill and enclosing a tax-deductible contribution.
“This time of year can be really difficult for families who have to stretch their dollars,” said Jennifer Leney, COO of CCA. “Thanks to First Choice Power and its generous customers, we hope to eliminate the need for families to cut back on such necessities as heating due to electricity prices.”
In addition to bill payment assistance, First Choice Power partners with CCA as part of its Food FirstTM program to fight hunger in Texas throughout 2010. First Choice Power has provided more than 50,000 meals to CCA clients through volunteering monthly at the CCA Food Pantry, as well as through employee volunteers and community engagement donations.
For the past 35 years, CCA has been giving assistance to low-income families residing in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Tarrant and Wise counties. With the support of volunteers, families, churches and local businesses like First Choice Power, CCA is able to provide North Texans in need with food, healthcare and educational and vocational training programs to get individuals and families back on their feet.
“First Choice Power’s Care to Share Fund represents the true spirit and message of Christian Community Action. As long as there continues to be a generosity of spirit from local businesses and individuals, like First Choice Power and its customers, then CCA will continue to help those North Texans who truly need it,” Leney said.
