First Choice Power Supports Mission-Area High School Bands with $7,000 to Booster Clubs
MISSION, TEXAS –During the grand opening for First Choice Power’s Mission office, local high school bands from Mission, McAllen and Edinburg competed for prize money to support their booster clubs. In all, a total of $7,000 was awarded among 3 high school bands that competed for the grand prize of $1,000 presented to the winner.
“We believe supporting school programs is one of the many ways we can be involved in our community here in Mission,” said Terry Pruett, director of First Choice Power local offices. “We are excited to be able to serve the Valley face-to-face at our newest office location.”
Local celebrity and Telemundo anchor Dalila Garza was the host for the day’s festivities and encouraged the crowd of more than 500 to vote via text message for their favorite band. Edinburg North High School came out on top and received the $1,000 grand prize donation for its booster club.
In addition to Edinburg North High School, donations were made to:
-
McAllen High School – McHi Steppers, McHi Band

-

In addition to the competition, First Choice Power raffled off more than 20 iPods and other fun prizes, including tickets to the Luis Miguel concert. The grand opening fiesta wrapped up with a performance from the award-winning Mariachi 7 Leguas and the Our Smart Neighborhood awards ceremony, which honored community heroes who make a difference.
