First Choice Power to Dedicate Ralph Holm Building in Texas City
TEXAS CITY, TEXAS – First Choice Power will dedicate its Texas City storefront office Friday, June 3, in honor of Ralph Holm. The dedication will be at 4 p.m. at 915 N. 20th North in Texas City. The community is invited; food and drinks will be served.
“Ralph Holm is Texas City,” said Gabe Sims, manager of the Texas City Local Office. “He has given himself to all causes and projects that benefit our community. It is fitting that we honor him in our local office that he helped bring back to this area.”
Holm of Pecos graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown with a bachelor of science. He worked in the oil fields and as an industrial engineer before joining Community Public Service Company (now called TNMP) in 1970. Since then Holm has served as emergency management coordinator safety and special projects director for the city of Texas City and chairman of the Economic Development Corporation. “Ralph has touched nearly everyone in Texas City through his work with the utilities, city or many community projects,” Gabe added. “ We are lucky to have him as part of the First Choice Power family.”
The Texas City office opened in October. It is one of three First Choice Power storefronts; the others are in Lewisville and Texas City. Each store is a prime example to the community of green building with energy-efficient features such as Lutron EcoSystem monitors that adjust interior lighting levels based on the amount of natural light in the space throughout the day, Tectum ceiling panels, which are produced in an environmentally friendly process from natural raw materials and low-VOC primers and paints throughout the space, which dramatically reduce toxins and increase air quality for employees and customers.
First Choice Power has a history of supporting the Gulf Coast through its Food First™ partnership with the Gleanings from the Harvest, Galveston County Food Bank, Reduce Your Use Grants for teachers and nonprofits and its Care to Share bill payment assistance program that provides financial help to those who struggle to afford their energy bills.
