IMAS Goes Green with First Choice Power
McAllen - The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) is going green by saving money and energy with help from First Choice Power, who is providing 100 percent green electricity. This switch to 100 percent green energy means no use of fossil fuels and no production of carbon emissions or air pollutants when generating electricity.
“We are passionate about reducing our carbon footprint, and we are excited that First Choice Power is partnering with us,” said Joseph Bravo, Executive Director of IMAS. “Our museum celebrates science, and energy efficiency is an important part of our exhibits. It makes sense that we would do that as a museum, too, by going green.”
IMAS has entered into a 24-month agreement with First Choice Power for 100 percent green power generated completely by wind energy. “The commitment to green energy shown by IMAS demonstrates a simple step that homes and businesses can take to make the world a better place by reducing their carbon footprint,” said Brian Hayduk, president, First Choice Power. “We are excited about this partnership and look forward to not only providing them reliable energy services, but developing a relationship that will help educate museum patrons about the importance of saving energy.”
This is one of the many steps that IMAS has taken to reduce their carbon footprint over the past three years. IMAS celebrates this opportunity to establish a green standard and hopes to make real and lasting changes in the Rio Grande Valley community that will educate children and protect our resources for years to come.
